
(Birmingham, Alabama – April 7, 2025) — A 6 year-old boy and two adults from Birmingham were tragically killed Sunday before 5 p.m. on Arkadelphia Road at Eighth Terrace West, near the former Birmingham Southern College campus.
According to the coroner, 36-year-old Earl Lee Evans III, 36-year-old Karen Renee King, and 6-year-old Caiden Evans were in a Ford Crown Victoria that collided with a Chevrolet Traverse.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene and transported the victims to Birmingham area hospitals.
Passenger Earl Lee Evans III was pronounced dead at the scene. Caiden Evans was taken to Children’s of Alabama Hospital where he died. The driver, Karen Renee King, was taken to UAB Hospital where she died.
The Birmingham Police Deparment is investigating the crash.
Birmingham City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Sullivan issued the following statement.
“We are deeply saddened by the death of Caiden Evans, a 1st Grade scholar at West End Academy who died recently in a car accident. Our hearts are with Caiden’s family, friends, and teachers. Birmingham City Schools is providing additional counseling support for the students and staff at the school as they navigate this difficult point in their lives.”
The Brighton Christian Memorial Funeral Home’s facebook page posted a touching video in remembrance of Caiden Evans and Karen King.
