Common Causes of Alabama Multi-Vehicle Crashes

Fatal highway crashes in Alabama often result from:

  • Distracted or fatigued driving
  • Following too closely or improper lane changes
  • Impaired driving (drugs or alcohol)
  • Speeding or reckless operation
  • Poor lighting or weather conditions

Interstates like I-459 see higher crash severity due to speed, traffic volume, and limited reaction time.

How Families Can Obtain the Alabama Crash Report

Families or legal representatives seeking the official crash report can contact ALEA’s Driver License Division or request it online:

You can also call ALEA at (334) 242-4371 for assistance locating reports or determining which investigating office handled the crash.

Under Alabama’s wrongful death law, family members may pursue claims for:

  • Wrongful death of the mother and unborn child
  • Negligence or reckless driving by another motorist
  • Product liability (if mechanical failure contributed)

Because fatal-collision investigations can take weeks, families are encouraged to contact an attorney as soon as possible to preserve evidence, witness statements, and crash data.
