(Birmingham, AL, October 18, 2021) — An Alabama Department of Transportation employee died after he fell out of a truck on Monday morning.

The bucket truck that carried Joseph John Bonner was traveling on Daniel Payne Drive. Around 10:00 AM, Bonner fell out of the truck while he was working on an interstate sign. The bucket truck was elevated, so Bonner fell about 40 feet.

The authorities responded to the accident scene and transported Bonner to UAB Hospital. Bonner died at 10:19 AM. He was 57 years old and lived in Oakman.
