Andrew Moak is, in my opinion, one of the best personal injury lawyers in Alabama. If the plaintiff’s bar ranked the best personal injury attorneys in the state, I would not be surprised if Andrew was number one.

What puts Andrew on the Mount Rushmore of Alabama trial lawyers is his ability to obtain nuclear verdicts in cases that have “bruises” on them. It is one thing to cherry-pick clean cases in good venues. It takes a whole different level of skill to obtain record verdicts, like Andrew does, with imperfect cases in tough venues.

In Morgan County, Alabama, Andrew achieved a remarkable $25 million verdict in a challenging pedestrian case. The case involved disputed liability against a driver. The driver’s insurance company denied the claim, arguing that Andrew’s client had walked the wrong way down a street at night while wearing dark clothing. Andrew smartly prosecuted the case on wantonness (recklessness) which negated the defendant’s contributory negligence defense.

In Montgomery County, Andrew and Brett Turnbull won a $15 million jury verdict for the estate of a foster child who died after the foster parents and DHS failed to properly administer prescription medication. Filed in 2015, the case involved complex legal and factual hurdles — including immunity defenses and significant “bruises.” Nevertheless, Andrew and Brett successfully held the responsible parties accountable.

2025 Jury Verdict Alert$10 Million
In April 2025, Andrew won a $10 million verdict from a Jefferson County jury. The case involved a difficult co-employee negligence claim. The plaintiff’s employer gave her a loose-fitting work uniform. When she reached inside a dangerous machine, the sleeve of her uniform got caught. As a result, the plaintiff suffered a severe arm injury that required hardware insertion. Co-employee negligence cases under Alabama law are notoriously challenging, and it took excellent legal skills from Andrew to achieve such an outstanding verdict.

2. Brett Turnbull

In my twenties, I lived in Las Vegas and played high-stakes No Limit and CAP No Limit Texas Hold’em. When I think of a personal injury lawyer who excels in high-stakes cases, I think of Brett Turnbull.

Brett can handle a $100 million case without letting the pressure affect him. He is fearless and has taken on the biggest cases against the most well-funded companies across the country.

Brett is recognized for securing a $25 million verdict against Nissan. This case involved a brake failure and was high profile, representing the victims’ family in California.

In Lee County, Alabama (an extremely tough venue for plaintiffs), Brett won a $9 million jury verdict for the estate of a young woman whose doctor prescribed birth control pills that caused a fatal blood clot in her lung. A $9 million verdict in an Alabama medical malpractice case is enormous given how restrictive Alabama’s medical malpractice law is. Verdicts like these in non-plaintiff-friendly venues are what separate Brett from the field.

Brett is also a trailblazer in traumatic brain injury cases. His work in this area has brought a new understanding to what is often a misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and undervalued injury.

3. Kendall Dunson

I have never personally met Kendall Dunson, but based on his reputation, I would not hesitate to retain him to represent a family member in a wrongful death or catastrophic injury case. Kendall’s results in automotive product liability cases speak for themselves and rival those of any trial lawyer in the country.

Kendall has obtained numerous jury verdicts in high-stakes defective design and rollover cases. In June 2023, Kendall and his team at Beasley Allen obtained an $8.5 million verdict against Nissan in Mobile, where Nissan designed a defective airbag that caused total blindness and permanent damage to the plaintiff’s eyes.
