(Birmingham, AL, October 5, 2021) — Tragically, at 8 AM on October 5, 2021, two drivers in Fultondale were killed in a fatal car accident. 

Driver Chelsea Symone Holmes of Birmingham, age 29, died at the scene of the accident. The other driver, 77-year-old Jo Ann D. Startley of Blountsville, passed away shortly after arriving at UAB Hospital. 

The head-on collision occurred at the intersection of Carson Road and Indian Valley Road in Fultondale. Authorities say that Holmes’ Toyota Camry struck Startley’s Chevy Tahoe.

Both vehicles carried passengers. Despite the severity of the accident, both passengers initially appear to have survived the accident. An adult passenger riding in Startley’s vehicle was also transported to UAB Hospital. Holmes’ child, a four-year-old, was taken to Children’s Hospital of Alabama, with non-threatening injuries.  

The cause of the Fultondale fatal accident is still under investigation.
