(Birmingham, Alabama October 11, 2022) — On early Tuesday morning, Sandra Preston Thomas, 74, of Birmingham was tragically killed when her vehicle collided with a semi-truck on the I-59 northbound ramp onto I-20.
Northbound lanes of Interstate 59 were shut down around shortly after 11:30 a.m.
A passenger in the car was taken to UAB Hospital with minor injuries. The truck driver did not report any injuries.
The Birmingham Police and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continue to investigate the crash.
