(Montgomery, Alabama November 19, 2022) — On early Friday morning, five people were tragically killed during a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 involving an 18-wheeler.

According to the Montgomery Police Department, the crash occurred when a 2021 Toyota Corolla driven by Maria Baltazar entered the interstate against the flow of traffic before hitting the 18- wheeler.

The driver and four passengers in the Toyota Corolla were from Cairo, Georgia, and they were tragically killed in the crash:

  • Maria Baltazar, 49, driver
  • Veronica Gonzalez, 28
  • Hosea Lopez, 27
  • Christian Lopez Gonzalez, 10
  • Edwardo Lopez Gonzalez, 4

The Montgomery Police Department continues to investigate the crash. No details has been released about the driver of the truck.
