One Killed in Montgomery, AL Car Accident

(Montgomery, AL, August 18, 2021) — A two-vehicle collision on Birmingham Highway left one man dead. Police reported the death of 84-year-old Union Springs resident Joe Caldwell in a car accident in Montgomery, AL. Around 4:30 PM, Caldwell’s Dodge Caravan collided with a Volvo near Trinity Road. The Montgomery police transported Caldwell to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The police have not identified the Volvo driver; they did report that the driver didn’t sustain injuries in the collision. Hit and Run Near Huntsville, AL Leaves One Dead

(Madison, AL, August 19, 2021) — A vehicle struck and killed a 16-year-old pedestrian in a hit and run Madison accident. The teenager, Mason Cozelos, was crossing East Limestone Road when the vehicle hit him. Authorities declared Cozelos dead when they arrived at the crash scene around 10:30 PM.  The driver fled the scene of the crash, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has not identified the offender. The ALEA continues to investigate this accident in Madison as a hit and run case. Cozelos attended James Clemens High School, a local Madison school. He played lacrosse. Authorities ask any individual with information about this hit and run Madison accident to call the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office at 256-232-0111.  Madison residents also set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help identify the person at fault in this accident. The money raised will be put toward a reward for providing information about the driver that fled the crash scene. People may donate here. Local Man Dead in Crash South of Berry

(Fayette County, AL, August 26, 2021) — A 56-year-old man died after a truck crash on Alabama 13. Alabama State Troopers responded to the crash scene where two trucks crashed into each other. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said it was a head-on collision near mile marker 223. The crash occurred just before 2:15 PM. The deceased driver, Kevin Edgil, died at the crash scene. He lived in Carbon Hill, Alabama. Birmingham Single-Car Accident on Valley Crest Drive

(Birmingham, AL, September 7, 2021) — A man died in a single-vehicle crash on Valley Crest Drive in Birmingham. The Jefferson County Coroner identified the deceased driver as Tobin Blaine Greene. He was 53 years old, and he was alone in his vehicle at the time of the crash. The Birmingham Police Department reported that Greene’s 2015 Ford Edge drove off the road and crashed into multiple trees before landing in a ravine. Boating Crash in Tennessee River Leaves One Dead

(Jackson County, AL, August 7, 2021) — A man died in a boating collision on the Tennessee River on Saturday night. The man was on a 1973 Orlando aluminum fishing boat with two women when the crash happened. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, a large commercial towing boat struck the fishing boat at about 8:45 PM. The impact knocked all three fishing boat passengers into the water near the Alabama 117 bridge near Stevenson. The two female fishing boat passengers were retrieved quickly. The ALEA transported both women for medical treatment, but they did not provide details on their conditions. However, the man, later identified as James Ray Blair, was not found until hours later. Auburn Man Dead After Single-Vehicle Crash in Lee County

(Notasulga, AL, April 20, 2021) — One man died in a single vehicle crash early on Tuesday morning. Jerimiah Jones was driving a 2007 Volvo S80 on Alabama 14. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency pronounced Jones, 21, of Auburn, dead at the scene around 3:15 AM.  Jones struck a mailbox and a tree as he drove his vehicle off the road, eventually crashing. Woman Killed in Car Crash Two Miles Outside of Tuscaloosa

(Tuscaloosa, AL, March 19, 2021) — A car crash on Friday afternoon killed one woman and left two teenagers injured. The crash occurred around 1:00 PM on Joe Mallisham Parkway between a 2019 Nissan Verda and a 2012 GMA Acadia. The teenager—who was driving the Acadia—struck the Verda that the deceased woman was driving. There was one passenger in the teenager’s car. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency identified the woman as 37-year-old Serrita Monte Turner. Police pronounced her dead at the scene. The other vehicle’s driver and passenger required medical attention and were taken to DCH Regional Medical Center. Nonparticipant Driver Dies Amidst Street Racing Activity

(Birmingham, AL, March 21, 2021) — A passing-by driver died after multiple vehicles were racing on Arkadelphia Road on Sunday morning. The Birmingham Police Department responded to reports of street racing and a four-vehicle collision around 6:00 AM. They found one unresponsive individual when they arrived at the crash site. Police identified the dead driver as 52-year-old Brandy Ballard of Birmingham and declared her dead at the scene.  Police determined that Ballard was driving down the 800-block of Arkadelphia road when one of the racing cars crossed over the centerline. The two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes. Police have not detailed how the other two cars were involved in the crash. However, police also determined that the vehicle that caused the crash had left the scene. Witnesses helped police identify the absent vehicle as a Camaro. Police later identified and found the car, owned by Carmesia Flannigan, 22. Flannigan was arrested and charged with Ballard’s murder. Additionally, police charged Flannigan with possession of a controlled substance and leaving the scene of a crash. Authorities booked Flannigan into the Jefferson County Jail. Two People Dead in Crash Near Huntsville

(Huntsville, AL, March 20, 2021) — Two people died in a collision on Highway 53 just north of Huntsville on Saturday morning. Around 1:30 AM, Alabama state troopers received reports of a two-vehicle crash near Jeff Road. When they arrived at the scene, troopers found a 1999 Toyota Camry and a 2003 Toyota 4Runner. Authorities pronounced two individuals—George Joseph Aceto III and Amy Marie Kennemer—dead at the scene. Both Aceto and Kennemer were from the Huntsville area. According to the police report, Aceto’s Camry crossed over the highway’s center-line and in front of oncoming traffic. Kennemer was traveling in the opposite direction in her 4Runner. Georgia Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash on an Alabama Highway

(Dekalb County, AL, March 5, 2021) — A Georgia man died after a single-vehicle crash on Alabama 117 that also injured the driver and another passenger. The deceased individual, Mark L. Wilson, was a passenger in the 2020 Ford Ranger that flipped over on the highway near Mentone in Dekalb County. The authorities determined that the truck veered off the road and hit a culvert before overturning around 8:40 PM.  The vehicle’s driver and one other passenger required medical treatment, and authorities transported them to a nearby hospital. Wilson died at the scene of the crash. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the crash, which occurred about two miles south of East River Road.
